DAY 1: CASABLANCA - RABAT - FES
Today's private tour of Morocco begins with a visit to the Hassan II Mosque, followed by a drive to Rabat to see the Mechouar of the Royal Palace, the remains of Chellah, the Mohammed V Mausoleum, and the Hassan Tower. After lunch, we'll go to Meknes to tour the city. The guided tour will include Bab El Mansour, the enormous gate that serves as the gateway to the ancient city and Jewish quarter, the Royal Granaries, and the city wall. Volubilis (the Roman ruins) and Moulay Idriss will be our next stops (the holy town). We will proceed to Fes, where we will dine and spend the night in a typical riad. Today, we will also have a guided trip of Fes, the cultural center of Morocco. It is well-known for the medieval architecture of its Fes El Bali walled medina. To observe traditional Moroccan crafts, we visit a tannery and a pottery cooperative. Overnight stay in a local hotel with dinner included.
DAY 2: FES TO MIDELT - RISSANI AND MERZOUGA DESERT
Today, we will pick you up from your Fes hotel and bring you to Midelt and the Merzouga desert. We visit Ifrane, a renowned ski resort. Then, we proceed to the cedar forest of Azrou, where we may spot monkeys. We continue our journey across Morocco by climbing the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing via Erfoud, which is well-known for its fossil products, and on to Rissani. After arriving in the Merzouga desert in the afternoon, we dine at a desert hotel.
DAY 3: MERZOUGA DESERT - TODRA GORGES - DADES GORGES
We will see the desert daybreak in the Merzouga desert before returning to the hamlet on camel as the Morocco desert trip continues. Our goals are the Rissani, Tinghir, and Todra gorges. The gorges are the most narrow and deep in Morocco. After lunch in the gorge, we will journey through the Dades valley while enjoying the rock formations resembling monkey feet. We stay the night and eat dinner and breakfast in the Dades valley.
DAY 4: DADES GORGES - KASBAH AIT BENHADDOU - MARRAKECH (CASABLANCA)
Today, we continue our private tour of Morocco by seeing the Valley of Roses in Kalaat Mgouna and the "Hollywood of Africa" in Ouarzazate. Ait Benhaddou is home to the largest Kasbah in Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site as well as a local film studio. We journey to Marrakech via the High Atlas Mountains. Tour finishes in Marrakech; alternatively, a transfer to Casablanca can be arranged.
